Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
The Diocese of Tagum ("we," "our," or "us") operates the DATOS application
(com.dioceseoftagum.datos) (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what we
collect, how it is used and shared, and how you can delete it. If you do not agree with this policy,
please do not use the application.
1. Information We Collect
- Your account: when you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address and the account identifier from that provider. We never see your Google or Apple password.
- Your role: if the diocese gives you a role (a parish secretary or a disaster responder, for example), the role and the parish, GKK or unit it covers.
- Your member profile, if you fill it in: name, photo, phone number, birthday, gender, parish, GKK and apostolates. Only you, the diocese’s administrators, and census staff looking up one person at a time can see it.
- What you share in the Prayer Hub: the prayers you post and their photos, your comments and reactions, and the people you follow. Other people signed in to DATOS can see prayers, comments and reactions.
- What you share in parish and GKK groups: your requests to join, the posts you make and their photos, and your comments and reactions. Other people signed in to DATOS can see a group’s members, posts, comments and reactions; the group’s admins also see who has asked to join.
- The Fellowship: your companions, the requests you send and receive, and the people you block; your Journey — who may open it, the parish, GKK and ministries you choose to show on it, and what you share there (words, photos, and a video of up to ten minutes), with your comments and reactions. Each sharing is seen by the people you choose: everyone signed in to DATOS, or your companions only. Your email address, phone number, birthday and gender are never shown on your Journey.
- Messages: the messages and photos you send, seen by the people in the conversation — one other person, the members of a group, or the members of a parish or GKK chat room. Your name and photo are listed so that other people signed in can find you; you choose who may start a conversation with you. If someone in a conversation reports it, the diocese’s Super Administrators can read that conversation.
- What you send us: Live Chat messages (seen by the others in the same session), support tickets, ratings and feedback, and survey answers.
- Registrations and memberships: event registrations (name, gender, parish and age, and the ministries or organizations you choose to name, if any; a pre-registration made from your account also carries your email, and whether a point person has verified you at the venue) and requests to be listed as a member of a GKK, apostolate, DCLAIM group, congregation or corporation.
- Donations: your name, email address, mobile number, the amount and any note you add. The payment itself is handled by PayMongo, and your card or e-wallet details go to PayMongo, never to DATOS.
- Your location, for the weather: DATOS asks for your approximate location to show the forecast where you are. It is sent to Open-Meteo to fetch that forecast; it is not sent to the diocese or kept by us. If you decline, DATOS shows the forecast for Tagum City.
- Camera and microphone, only in a video meeting you join. Photos and videos you attach (a profile photo, a prayer, a group post, a sharing, a message, a diocesan record) are chosen from your photo library.
- Disaster alerts: a responder’s alert carries the place, a description, an optional photo and the responder’s email address. DATOS does not track anyone’s location.
- Anonymous statistics: counts of visits and of time spent in the app, with no name, email address or account identifier.
2. Kept Only on Your Device
Your settings (theme, text size and language), bookmarks, personal prayers, your confession journal,
prayer schedule and prayer reminders, downloaded songs, the latest weather forecast and the saved copy of the diocese’s public
directory stay on your device and are not sent to us. Prayer reminders are set on your phone itself.
3. Use of Your Information
- To create and manage your account and your role.
- To show what you share to the people it is meant for: the Prayer Hub, parish and GKK groups, the Fellowship, Messages, Live Chat and meetings.
- To answer your support tickets and feedback, and to run the diocese’s surveys, events and member lists.
- To process and acknowledge donations, and to keep the donation records the law requires.
- To coordinate disaster response across vicariates and parishes.
- To compile anonymous statistics for internal diocesan use.
4. Services That Handle Your Information
- Google Firebase: sign-in, the database, stored photos and files, and the website itself.
- Google and Apple: signing in.
- Jitsi Meet (meet.jit.si): video meetings. Your camera and microphone pass through Jitsi’s servers while you are in a meeting. DATOS does not record meetings.
- PayMongo: online donations.
- Open-Meteo: weather forecasts.
- Content from other services: some pages show posts from parish Facebook pages, YouTube videos, OpenStreetMap maps, songs from outside music services, and Mass schedules from the Mass Schedules Philippines website (mass-schedules.com). When you open them, those services receive your device’s connection details, such as its IP address, and may use cookies under their own privacy policies. Directions open in Google Maps.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, property and safety of
others. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
5. Security of Your Information
We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal
information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us,
please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data
transmission can be guaranteed against interception or other misuse.
6. Deleting Your Account and Data
You may delete your DATOS account at any time, either from
Settings > Account Management > Delete Account inside the app, or by emailing
datosproject2025@gmail.com. Deletion permanently removes
your sign-in account, your profile and role record, and your personal app content. It cannot be undone.
Read the full account deletion policy, including what is retained and for how long.
7. Children's Privacy
DATOS is intended for use by members and personnel of the Diocese of Tagum in a pastoral and
administrative capacity. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you
believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revision date at the top of this page shows when
it was last changed, and continued use of the application after an update constitutes acceptance of it.
